Within Dierenkliniek Wolvega there is a great deal of expertise in the field of purchase and sales inspections. Extensive experience in the orthopaedic and surgical field weighs in our favour in order to be able to properly assess and interpret inspection findings, to provide you with good advice regarding the horse’s suitability for its intended use.
Given our extensive expertise in the field of diagnosis and surgery, we are also able to advise on possible follow-up steps, such as the surgical removal of OCD and other chip fragments.

Facilities at the clinic
Our new lameness diagnostic centre is equipped to carry out a full clinical examination under ideal conditions, whatever the weather! By examining the horses in a covered hall in a straight line, on a well-fenced hard and soft circle, there is little distraction and an honest and objective judgement can be made. Our hard circle is equipped with a gravel floor that allows the horses to be judged well without the risk of slipping.
Paardenkliniek Wolvega has the most modern equipment in the field of radiographic examination. Our digital X-ray system at the clinic offers the possibility to obtain the highest quality images of the limbs, neck and spinal processes at a rapid pace. This allows us to assess the health of the most commonly affected parts of the equine skeleton, from the radius bone to the kneecap. Our images can also be forwarded digitally in DICOM or JPG to third parties, for example for examinations for foreign buyers or KWPN PROK/ other stud book examinations.
Examination at location
Given the ideal conditions in our hall, we have a strong preference for carrying out examinations at our clinic. However, after consultation to ensure there are adequate facilities (including a straight pavement of +- 20 meters long and a hard and soft circle with a minimum diameter of 15 m), it is also possible to come and perform the inspection at your home.
On top of that, for a X-ray examination we have several mobile digital X-ray systems at our disposal, which means that X-ray inspections are also perfectly possible on location. The quality of the “mobile” X-rays of the legs is equivalent to those made at the clinic. We recommend examination at the clinic for high-quality neck and back images.
PROK- examination
PROK stands for Project X-ray Research KWPN. At the KWPN, this predicate is awarded to KWPN horses that meet the X-ray requirements of the studbook. For the breeder, this means that the horse has good bone quality and can therefore pass on a good basis to its offspring. During this inspection, photos are taken of both the front and hind legs. The KWPN has recognized veterinarians throughout the country where X-rays can be made, including at Paardenkliniek Wolvega.

Happy horses, happy people
Onze bejaarde pony Jacob is geholpen aan eorth. We zijn vooraf goed geïnformeerd over de behandeling en kansen op herstel, ook gewezen op de risico's van de ingreep. Onze pony is als een prins behandeld en uitstekend verzorgd. De dierenarts hield ons goed op de hoogte. Gelukkig verloopt het herstel van Jacob voorspoedig. Dikke prima voor deze kliniek
Zeer fijne kliniek. Gaan rustig en deskundig om met mijn paarden. En nemen de tijd de vragen te beantwoorden.

Er word goed naar je uitleg geluisterd, keelscopie en balspoeling op schijf thuisgestuurd gekregen. Uit de scopie op de dag zelf bleek al: pony retour met gierende banden! Aantal dagen later keurig gebeld met labuitslagen, hele goede uitleg van Berit + advies ab bacteriele infectie vd verkopende partij. Ik kocht een gekeurde pony, maar een kliniek is mi toch iets anders dan een DAP. (De goede DAP's niet te na gesproken) 😉.
